Darrelle Revis to Chad Ochocinco: Let’s settle the Twitter battle on the field

Darrelle Revis said he is having a lot of fun engaging in trash talk with his good friend Chad Ochocinco and that the Bengals’ wide receiver better be ready to back up his talk. “You can’t tweet on Sundays,” Revis said.

Revis: ‘You can’t tweet on Sundays’

Hey Jets fans! First off, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and be safe.

Let’s start with the Darrelle Revis-Chad Ochocinco saga. Revis was at practice today and feeling much better after feeling ill from something he ate on Tuesday. Revis said he reported to the facility on Wednesday morning and was sent home to recover but now he is feeling great and ready to play on Sunday against Ochocinco.

As for Ocho, Revis said he is loving the back-and-forth with his good friend but had this message for the Bengals wide receiver.

“You can’t tweet on Sundays,” Revis said of Ochocinco’s preferred medium to talk trash. “You got to leave your phone in the locker room and you gotta bring your A-game.”

“We’ll see on Sunday,” Revis added. “This is very exciting, this whole Twitter thing. I’m down with it. He can’t tweet on Sundays anyway. He has a lot of jokes. This is all entertaining for me.”

“I’m down with playing a little Twitter games and whatever else he wants to play,” he continued. “It’s cool. I don’t have a problem with it. I know Chad personally. This is nothing personal and he is not taking it personally. More stuff might happen with Twitter. It might not.”

Linebacker Bart Scott, who has had his share of trash-talking sessions in the past with Ochocinco from his Ravens days, had some advice for Revis.

“Don’t say anything,” Scott said. “Don’t get drawn in. I can care less what that man is doing. I am trying to get to the playoffs. That man is playing a free game. Me and Chad go way back. It is old news. It is like falling for the same trap. It’s stupid. Who cares?”

CB Donald Strickland (quad) was the only Jet to not practice and it’s not looking as if he will play Sunday night. DE Shaun Ellis (knee) was limited.

“It doesn’t look that good right now because he’s missed two days of practice,” Rex Ryan said of Strickland. “That will be a stretch to see if he goes, but we should be good. We’ve got good depth, so hopefully he can get well. I know he’s trying like heck to play, but I don’t think he will.”

Ryan repeatedly praised the Bengals and said that they have the right to play their starters any way Marvin Lewis wants to. Ryan also said the Jets will not hold anything back in the case that they might face the Bengals two weeks in a row should the Jets win.

“This one is going to be a man-on-man type challenge,” Ryan said. “It really is that kind of game. Some of the other ones, there are more finesse teams, and you feel confident because I feel our strategy in the way you build a team works against teams like that. This one is kind of mirror images of each other. It’s going to be an old-fashioned, knock down-drag out.”

“Trust me, we’re not saving anything. That’s pretty safe to say. We’re not going to save anything. I doubt (Cincinnati will). They may. You’ll know that by who’s playing and who’s not playing.”
