NFL | Teams looking at Grimm as a safety
Virginia Tech LB Cody Grimm said during the NFL Scouting Combine that he is mostly working as a safety. Grimm added, “I’m doing linebacker drills and safety drills here. I’m in the linebacker group but from what I hear, from what my agent said, they’re looking at me mostly as a strong safety.” Grimm doesn’t believe he will have a problem making the transition. “It’s not that different. We ran a 4-4 at Virginia Tech so my position was more like the strong safety position than most other linebackers would be. I’m used to playing man to man coverage, out on slots, stuff like that. The only difference is the distance I line up from the ball. Usually the safety would line up 10 yards away and I’d be closer to the line.”

So I knew, I always wanted to stand up, that was my dream, coming out playing linebacker. They moved me to D-line I had to adjust. I think I’ll fit straight-in as soon as I get back.”
