Colts | Owner will keep mum on Peyton Manning contract talks
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay referred to the ‘cone of silence’ when asked for an update on a possible contract extension for QB Peyton Manning, according to Mike Chappell, of The Indianapolis Star. ‘The ‘cone of silence’ is going to come down, at least for us. That’s how you get something done. I’m not even sure what the Brady thing is,’ Irsay said in reference to the Patriots reportedly closing in on a deal with QB Tom Brady. Manning, 34, is in the final year of a six-year, $98 million contract that pays $15.8 million this season. Our View: Manning is going to retire as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, and when his contract is agreed upon it should be the largest in NFL history.
